This was my second full marathon, and I think the race was oversold given what Sav. has to offer in the way of restaurants, hotels, etc. I also had expected the course to be a bit more picturesque. Running 4-5 miles along the highway was kind of lame. However, the post race location was excellent. Where there was crowd support was excellent. Running through some of the parks was nice too. Mixed feelings overall. Not gonna run ( pun intended ) to do this one again. Too many other prime locations to choose from.

Anyone interested in running in the Chosen Adoption Marathon (or 1/2 marathon)? (http://www.chosenmarathonforadoption.com/)

We are raising money to adopt an orphan from China. Her name is Serena and she is 10 years old. She has been an orphan since she was a month old and was labelled "special needs" all because she wears glasses. We can not wait to bring her home and have her join our family. She is an amazing and sweet little girl who has survived so much in her short life. As a part of this, we are running in the Chosen Marathon. We are doing the 1/2 marathon - but for us, this will be a huge accomplishment. Our team name is "When Love Brings you to Me". You can sign up to run or volunteer. We still need to raise about $15,000 to bring Serena home.

The race is October 29th in New Braunfels, Texas. We hope you will be able to join us!

Hey, just found where you posted our race on HalfMarathon.net, or at least, I assume you posted it? Anyway, great job condensing the info about the race in an enjoyable read! The event raised about $4000 after costs for nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue agencies here in Otero County. We'll have it again next year and if you check out our website you'll also read about the Zach Trak, a 1K*2K*5K*10K in memory of 6-year-old Zachary Barnes...the proceeds go to the disabled children of Zia Therapy Center, his favorite school. Good luck with your goals this year!

I've never ran a half marathon before. I am working up to it. I want to try the Rebel Race 15k in June. The website looks like fun rebelrace.com

Is anyone else training for it?

I am a 63 year old male who started running Jan. 2010. I have gone from 194lbs
to 167lbs. I am running 20-25 miles per week with my longest run to date at 7m at a
10min. per mile pace. My quandry is do I continue with fitness running or do I go
for it by entering races. My son wants to do a half marathon, but I have not come
to grips with running 13.1 miles. Where do I go with my running?
