News and notes on marathon races, half marathons from around the web this morning:

- San Diego hospital seeks runners who have overcome illness. Tri-City Medical Center is looking for runners to take part in a program that culminates in running the Carlsbad Half Marathon on Jan. 27, 2013.
- Wife’s memory drives marathon walker. Harry Proudfoot (his real name), from Fall River, Mass., walks race after race in bid to educate the public about neuroendocrine carcinoid tumor cancers.
- Why Bay Area men are signing up to run the Nike Women’s Marathon. Call me crazy, but I think the headline really answers its own question, don’t you?
